Virginia local to receive prize valued at more than $1,300
HANOVER, Pa. (July 10, 2012) – Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels and Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. hosted the fourth annual Pretzel Coaster Build Off today and named Maggie Woodward of Herndon, VA the grand prize winner based on the creativity, attention to detail and originality of her pretzel coaster creation.
Using only pretzels, a glue gun and her creativity, Maggie competed against six other finalists and the clock during the in-park competition to create a replica of Verbolten, Busch Gardens’ recently opened indoor/outdoor multi-launch roller coaster.
Maggie will receive a four pack of two-year, 2-Park passes for Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA, as well as a year’s supply of Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels. An estimated retail value of the grand prize is more than $1,300.
From March 3, 2012 to June 4, 2012, consumers from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina were encouraged to build a pretzel coaster using only Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels and glue, and then submit the image online. Six finalists were selected out of 30 total contest entries as part of the fourth annual pretzel coaster build off.
Finalists were judged by a roller coaster engineer, an expert from Busch Gardens, a pretzel expert from Snyder’s of Hanover and a representative from the American Coaster Enthusiasts club.
Contest sponsors estimate that each pretzel coaster entry took at least 5-8 hours to build. To view the amazing pretzel coaster creations of the five finalists, visit http://coastercontest2.snydersofhanover.com/ or http://pinterest.com/snydershanover/.
