Just like on the popular TV show Iron Chef, why don’t you spice up old recipes with a unique ingredient this Thanksgiving – Snyder’s of Hanover Pretzels! Pretzel Stuffing
Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Recipe:

  • 1 6oz. pkg. long grain / wild rice prepared according to pkg. directions
  • 8oz. sliced fresh mushrooms, sautéed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped, sautéed
  • 1 12oz. pkg. link sausage browned and cut into 1/4" pieces
  • 2 c. Snyder’s of Hanover Hard Sourdough Pretzels, salted or unsalted, broken into 1/2" pieces, crumbs removed
  • 4 c. stuffing croutons, such as Arnolds. Can be seasoned or unseasoned.
  • 1 c. chicken broth, added to out-of-bird stuffing only
  • salt, pepper, sage to taste


Instructions:
Combine all of the ingredients in a very large bowl and fill chicken or turkey cavity. Put remaining stuffing in a casserole, add chicken broth and baste with pan drippings or chicken broth. Cover with foil and place in oven for 1 hour. Remove cover for 10-15 minutes for crispy texture.


Sweet Potatoes with Cranberry Pretzel Topping
Cooking Time: 35-40 minutes
Recipe:
 

  • 1 large can of sweet potatoes (yams)
  • 5oz. can evaporated skim milk
  • 1 stick of margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla


Topping:
 

  • 2 c. Snyder’s of Hanover Hard Sourdough Pretzels, chopped
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 stick margarine, melted
  • 1 c. whole fresh or frozen cranberries


Instructions:
Mash sweet potatoes and combine with evaporated milk, margarine, sugar and vanilla. Press into 8x8 inch baking dish. Combine topping ingredients and spread over sweet potato mixture. Bake in 350° oven for 35 minutes.


Pumpkin Pretzel Muffins
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Recipe:
 

  • Shortening
  • 1 c. Snyder’s of Hanover Hard Sourdough Pretzels, very finely chopped
  • 1 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. pumpkin
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. walnuts (optional)


Instructions:
Grease 12 muffin cups with shortening. Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl combine pretzels, flour, baking powder, spice, and soda. In another bowl, cream together brown sugar and the 1/3 cup shortening. Add one egg and beat well. Add the other egg and beat well. Stir in pumpkin and milk. Stir in flour mixture just until mixed. Add nuts is desired. Spoon into greased muffin pans. Bake 25 minutes at 350°. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
