Sprinkle a little granulated sugar on a flat hard surface, such as your counter or smooth cutting board.
Using a rolling pin and working with one piece at a time, roll out a piece of taffy until it’s about 1/8” thick.
Cut a 1 ½” piece of the rolled out taffy. Using an artist’s brush or the tip of your finger. Lightly dampen the long edge of the taffy with water to help secure to the Pretzel Rod.
Wrap the 1 ½” piece of taffy around the top of the Pretzel Rod, about ¾” down from the top. Press the bottom edge of the taffy to the Pretzel Rod.
Cut a second piece of taffy to a 2” length and follow the directions above.
Repeat the above step, with each length of taffy increasing by ½”.
Once you have the fullness of “rose” petals desired, bend the upper portions of each “petal” until you’ve reached your desired effect.
For the “leaves”, spread a little granulated sugar on working surface and roll out to an 1/8” thickness. Cut each end of the rolled out spearmint leave and press along bottom edge of “rose petals” to adhere to Pretzel Rod.
