Pastry bag fitted with a #61 tip or other rose tip

Bake the cupcakes; to get the narrow center, when the cupcakes are still slightly warm, tie a ribbon around the center; let cool completely.
To make the rose top, using the photo as a guide, start in the center of the cupcake and squeeze a tight “U” shape. Create the second row of petals – slightly overlapping each petal (hint: remember to make each “row” slightly higher than the previous row. Each row has an odd number of petals, so begin with 3 petals; the next row will be 5, then 7, etc.) . Continue until the cupcake is covered almost to the edge.
Use the same tip for the green leaves. Simply nestle the tip under the outer edge of the rose petals, gently squeeze the pastry bag and pull out. Continue all around the rose.
